Split.io is an industry-leading Feature Delivery Platform which enables companies to embrace Impact-Driven Development across their engineering teams. We pair the speed and reliability of feature flags with data to measure the impact of every feature. By reducing development time, mitigating release risk, and quantifying impact, we free engineering teams to solve customer and business problems.

We are looking for an experienced backend engineer to work on building the core platform features at Split. You will help building new features for our customers, design and implement REST APIs, and optimizing code for scalability, speed and stability. Software Engineers at Split have strong problem solving capabilities, are great team players and have great communication skills. The core technologies that we use include Java, GoLang, MongoDB, Kafka, Redis, among others.

We Value the Journey: Your Days at Split

  • Design, model and build services to support new features and products.
  • Co-own and contribute to feature development for Split's backend stack (Java, Go, Mongo, and/AWS).
  • Analyze and alleviate performance and scalability issues by making necessary code changes.
  • Implementing security structures and its best practices
  • Participating in code reviews
  • Optimizing performance of applications for production deployments
  • Own service operation in production, including participating in on call rotation

We Believe in Bold: About You

Experimentation is core to our culture – let's iterate til' we win.

  • Relevant experience with server side development preferably using Java and/or Go
  • Experience designing and building REST APIs and service architecture
  • In-depth understanding of data structures and computer science fundamentals
  • Obsession over writing simple, modularized, elegant code that can be easily tested.
  • Able to work as a member of small team. Able to contribute to projects with peers in other departments when needed.
  • Attention to details with a strong work ethic, desire to learn and be challenged, self-driven and motivated.
  • Eagerness to learn quickly about a new product and industry vertical, and to receive constructive feedback to further improve your success in the role.

We Row Together: Our Culture and Belonging

We're all in the same boat with mutual trust and respect.

We believe an inclusive workplace is critical to the success of our team and our customers. We constantly strive to make Split a safe and welcoming place for people from systematically marginalized communities. We're looking for teammates that are as passionate as we are and want to join us in doing this extremely important work.

At Split, we believe face-to-face in-person communication is invaluable. We don't believe that it is the default for everyone. We have been fully remote before, and our teams continue to grow and span across time zones and countries. The heart of our shared culture is virtual - in our lively Slack channels, our Zoom company meetings, in every photo and #highfive shared. Our offices act as important vessels for our culture, but we are so much more.

We offer:

  • Highly-motivated teams working with the latest technologies
  • Collaborative and remote inclusive work environment
  • Competitive salary
  • Company equity for all Splitters
  • Health insurance for you and your family group
  • Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO and Volunteer time off
  • Annual Educational and monthly wellness stipends
  • Career Path based on your career goals
  • Inclusive company events that highlight Split's values and foster team bonding
